Australia Looks Forward to Hiring Indian IT talent

Australia is looking forward to recruiting more Indian IT professionals following the signing of a free trade agreement with India to combat the rising attrition rate in the country.

By 2025 the country’s worker shortage is expected to grow to 2,60,000. According to experts and a number of surveys, the pandemic is one of the primary reasons triggering this situation.

Piyush Goyal, The Indian Minister for Trade and Commerce and the Australian counterpart Dan Tehan talked about the possibilities of easing out the trade restrictions between the two countries. According to a report, the duo has been holding weekly talks on the Economic-cooperation agreement which could improve the chances of Australia hiring more IT talent from India.

Commenting on the round of talks, Dan Tehan said, “India a tech sector powerhouse, could help fill the void, with the final free trade deal to help Australian firms get access to best human IT capabilities. This will be a key part of the agreement. India also has a strong interest in their international students and around the area of post-study work rights, so that’s another area we are looking at.”
